Foundation spotlight series: Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation

Our goal is to ensure people in the Cariboo-Chilcotin receive prompt and adequate care. The government can’t provide everything to every location and we’re here to fill the gap and provide funding for medical equipment that reduces the need for people to travel for their care. Our region is huge and travel is a barrier for some people. Not everyone has a family member or friend who can take a day off work to drive them to Kamloops or Kelowna and back, and travel is uncomfortable following surgery. I know that from experience. This is how we look at where we’ll allocate funds. We want people in our community to have as many of their health-care needs as possible taken care of at home in their community.
